Here’s a great cover and video from Alex G and Corey Gray
Alex G of course has been featured many a time before here on TubeIdols, we know her as the owner of the super smooth silky beautiful voice and also partner in crime of other YouTube stars such as Tyler Ward, Jess Moskaluke and Adam Stanton.
Now here she is performing a cover of Katharine McPhee’s ‘Terrified’, produced by Jake Coco and W.G. Snuffy Walden with Corey Gray, a great acoustic performer who has recently been signed to Jakes ‘Keep Your Soul Records’. I’ve not featured Corey before but I’m sure this won’t be the last time. I’m really digging his (musical) style and he’s got a great voice.
I’m loving this track. Alex and Corey’s voices play off each other wonderfully (as you would expect!) and the great laid back acoustic vibe present in many of Jakes recordings really works.

Remember, buying their songs on itunes really helps support the artists and allows them to spend more time making the music we all love.
So until I feel the need to write about another YouTube video, bye for now!

After getting married I thought I’d take a bit of time off but I’m back and it’s great to return to show you some great music. I’m going to be dedicating articles to single artists (rather than having articles with lots of them) from now on and first up is the amazing Alex Goddard.
She’s been very prolific lately with covers from Beyonce and Lil Wayne as well as this amazing cover of Demi Lovato’s ‘Skyscraper’. I really think this is her best yet. Sticking to the great format of singing live to a produced backing track, she gives us the best of both worlds – that is a very well produced song but also some amazing soaring vocals on an emotional level that rivals Adele. They’re totally live too, which give an even great impact to this fantastic cover.
So go listen to it right now, it’s her most requested song in a while and lets help her push it past 30000 views on on towards 100000. Nice work Alexa.
And remember to buy it on iTunes!

So I’m going to take the Tube Idols videos a little more seriously now.
So the thousand or so of you who have ‘liked’ the Facebook page may have noticed that I’ve been more regular on YouTube than I have in the actual blog. That’s because instead of BLOGGING, I’ve been mainly FLOGGING.
So let me tell you how it’s going to work.
Basically, every now and then (hopefully every couple of weeks), I’ll post a video where I feature (usually) three videos. The lead video will always be an established YouTube act that catches my attention just before I make the video. Then I will also talk about two other, lesser known YouTubers.
These two YouTubers will be chosen from the videos posted on the Tube Idols Facebook page since the last FLOG video.
So how can you increase your chances of being featured?
Well the main thing all the videos I have featured so far have in common is that they are all in HD (720p) – For some reason I can’t download anything less than that resolution direct from YouTube. But if your videos are not in HD, do not worry. I’m looking for a program that will allow me to download lower definition videos. But also I can always just contact you and you can send it to me. Or you can upload it to mediafire or some other file download site and post the download link along with your video. That would help a lot!
So what else can you do?
Well if your video recieves loads of ‘likes’ after you post it then, obviously it seems our audience likes it and the last thing I want to do is upset the audience. If you want to ask a load of your friends to join the page then feel free, but be aware, that this is not a popularity contest. Having the most likes will not get your video automatically chosen, it will just ensure that I give it serious consideration. As the FLOG gets more popular, I may not be able to watch every single video so lots of comments and ‘likes’ will definitely help draw me to your video.
And that’s about it. But why is it called a ‘FLOG’?
Well I did explain it in my first video. The term ‘VLOG’, means video log. So ‘FLOG’ means Ford log. Me being the Ford in question of course. However, to flog is also to sell so its kind of like I’m selling your talents. i.e. promoting you. To flog also means to whip but we won’t go into that.
A Request to the Established Youtubers
Unfortunately, the Tube Idols channel does not have tens of thousands of subscribers just yet. At the moment we have about 1500 ish, which though not bad, could be a lot better. So if I feature you (and I’ll ask permission to use your video first, so you’ll know about it), please please could you share the FLOG that you are featured in on Twitter and Facebook. This not only helps Tube Idols increase it’s popularity, but also it’s power to give positive exposure to talented artists. I also never forget you if you share any of our videos or articles on Facebook.
And that’s all you need to know really.
So what are you waiting for? Click the ‘like’ button and get posting your videos.
How do you get to see the FLOG as soon as it’s uploaded?
Simply subscribe to the Tube Idols channel. There’s music on there too
Please share this article on Facebook and tell your friends about what’s happening. The bigger Tube Idols grows, the better I can promote the amazing talent that goes undiscovered on YouTube. Thanks!
